Is Social Media Down? Check Status

2 of 50 social media sites reporting issues

48 responding normally · 2 not responding · checked within the last hour.

Social media platforms sit at the heart of how people communicate online — and when they go down, it makes the news. We track real-time status for every major social network, from Facebook and Instagram to X (formerly Twitter), TikTok, Reddit, and the smaller communities that power online conversation. Whether a feed won't load, DMs are stuck, or video uploads are failing, you'll see the outage here within minutes of the first reports.

Social platforms have a distinctive failure mode: the public timeline can keep loading from CDN cache while the personal feed, notifications, or DMs go silent. That's why we use dual-signal detection — server-side HTTPS probes catch full-platform outages, while crowd-sourced reports surface the partial failures (e.g., "DMs not delivering", "can't upload Stories") that an HTTP 200 response misses. Outages on social networks tend to peak in the early evening US time zones; we maintain a 30-day outage history per platform so you can compare incident frequency across services.

About Social Media status monitoring

We monitor 50 social media websites every 60 seconds using automated HTTPS probes from US-based servers. Each check records the HTTP status code, response time, and DNS resolution status. When two consecutive checks fail — or crowd-sourced user reports spike above 5x the 7-day baseline — an outage event is triggered automatically.

Social Media services are among the mid-size categories in our 2,700+ site catalog. Common outage patterns in this category include DNS-level failures during provider migrations, CDN edge-node issues affecting specific regions, and application-layer errors during peak traffic. Our dual-signal detection catches all three.

How to use this page

The grid above shows every social media site we track with live status indicators. Green means the site responded normally on our last check. Red means our probes detected a failure. Click any site to see its full status page with 24-hour response time chart, uptime statistics, crowd reports, and recent incident history.

For cross-category comparisons, see the monthly outage reports which rank all sites by total downtime. For live alerts, the outages feed shows every currently active incident across all categories. Individual incident details are available in the incident archive.
